PhD position in « Development of a Methodology for Designing Hybrid Semantic and Cognitive Digital Twins» research 

Institute of Information Technology is looking for a research assistant committed to being part of a team. The institute offers variety of opportunities to dedicated individuals who want to deepen their understanding of the research field: 

• Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies
• Systems Analysis, Modeling and Design

Research topic of doctoral thesis: 

Development of a Methodology for Designing Hybrid Semantic and Cognitive Digital Twins by Scientific supervisor associate professor Dr.sc.ing. ARNIS LEKTAUERS

Institute offers:

• Government-funded budget place* in the doctoral study program "Computer Science and Information Technology"
• Potential collaboration with the University of Arizona (USA), Forschungszentrum Jülich (Jülich Research Centre, Germany) and Barcelona Supercomputing Center (Spain)
• Part-time or full time job position
• Salary (bruto) 2400 - 3400 EUR/month for full-time
• Opportunity to participate in training and mentoring undergraduates and gradute students
• Starting date - October 2025

Requirements
Research Field: Information Science, Education Level: Master's Degree or equivalent
Skills/Qualifications

Required Education:

• Master's degree in Information Technology or equivalent education
• Knowledge of systems theory, systems modelling and simulation methods
• Knowledge of digital twin concepts, architectures, and applications
• Programming skills; experience with scientific computing languages (e.g., C++, Python, Julia) is considered an advantage
• Knowledge of semantic technologies and ontology engineering
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Good knowledge of English
• Research experience (e.g. involvement in international scientific projects)
• Knowledge in the fields of high-performance computing and scientific visualization is considered an advantage
